Ban condemns "horrific" Kano Central Mosque attack

NEW YORK, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- The horrific attack on the Kano Central Mosque, which reportedly left dozens of people dead and possibly hundreds others injured, was condemned by the UN Chief.
Secretary General Ban Ki-moon conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and to the people and Government of Nigeria and wished swift recovery to the injured, his press office said in a statement.
Ban called on the authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice, and reiterated that there can be no justification for attacks on civilians.
The UN official reaffirmed the full support of the United Nations to Nigeriaآ’s efforts to fight terrorism and to provide security to the population consistent with international law and Nigeriaآ’s human rights obligations, the statement added.(end) mao.tg
