'Int'l day of Solidarity with Palestinian People' reminds world of Palestinians' just cause

RAMALLAH, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- The celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is no longer taking a traditional trait as was the case before 2012, after turning to a breaking point to remind the world that the entire nation is still living under the oppression of the occupation and its crimes.
The world has decided two years ago with a majority of 138 votes to upgrade the status of Palestine to a non-member State against nine objections and 41 abstentions including the UK, whose Parliament had recently recognized the State of Palestine along with Sweden.
Palestinians are gaining support and recognition year after year of their state in the world, as they are prepare to apply for a deadline to end the occupation in an appeal to the UN Security Council with the support of the Arab group in the international organization.
The United Nations General Assembly called in 1977 to celebrate on the 29th of November of each year the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the day in 1947 saw resolution 181 calling for the partition of Palestine.
Secretary General of the National Initiative Mustafa Al-Barghouti said in an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the new thing this year that Israel was bared more than ever in front of the whole world.
He added that the world has realized that what is happening is an apartheid system, therefore, Palestine is gaining more recognitions and votes in its favor, anticipating more recognitions would come in the future.
He urged the world community to immediately recognize the State of Palestine and called for the imposition of sanctions and boycott against Israel to end its policies of aggression, occupation and apartheid.
For his part, Coordinator of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements Abdullah Abu Rahma said that solidarity with the Palestinian cause by the peoples of Europe continues to increase.
He added that the popular resistance has contributed to the increasing numbers of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
He explained that those who are being prevented by Israel from reaching the West Bank to participate in the popular resistance were doing so in their own countries through marches and demonstrations against the Israeli policies.
He said that the activists are subjected to beatings and repression through their participation in the popular resistance, saying that such has impacted positively on their support for the Palestinian cause. (end) nq.tg
