Some 15 airstrikes target ISIL facilities in Syria, Iraq

WASHINGTON, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Friday that its military forces carried out two airstrikes in Syria between November 26 and 28, and in the same timeframe with its partner nations, carried out 13 airstrikes in Iraq targeting ISIL.
In Syria, bomber and remotely-piloted aircraft "struck an ISIL fighting position" near Kobani, as well as "an ISIL staging area," CENTCOM said in a statement.
"Near Aleppo, an airstrike struck a tactical ISIL unit," said CENTCOM.
In Iraq, the US and coalition nations used fighter, attack, and remotely-piloted aircraft to carry out the operation.
"Five airstrikes near Kirkuk destroyed five ISIL bunkers, four ISIL vehicles, a bulldozer and an ISIL fighting position and also struck a large ISIL unit and four tactical ISIL units," CENTCOM added.
"Near Mosul, two airstrikes destroyed five ISIL vehicles and a heavy weapon, and also struck two ISIL units." Meanwhile near Ramadi, "an airstrike struck a tactical ISIL unit," and near Ar Rutbah, "an airstrike destroyed seven ISIL vehicles," the statement said.
"Near Fallujah, an airstrike struck a tactical ISIL unit. Near Al Qaim, two airstrikes destroyed a fighting position and an armored vehicle. An airstrike in Bayji struck an ISIL tactical unit, an ISIL vehicle and an ISIL occupied building," it concluded.
CENTCOM further confirmed that "all aircraft returned to base safely," but did not specify which nations took part in this particular round of airstrikes. (end) ys
