MANAMA, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- Bahraini Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of media and Arab news agencies' role in supporting the unity of Arab peoples, stability and standing against what were being plotted against the region of schemes intended to spread chaos and destruction.
The work of Arab news agencies is becoming more difficult in light of the rapid spread of social media networks, and the continuous smear campaigns staged against the GCC and Arab countries, which requires them to adopt new effective plans and approaches that enable them to face the challenges, he pointed out.
He emphasised the need to step up joint Arab action in all fields, including the media, to ensure the success of Arab countries' efforts to enhance development.
He stressed the importance of sincere stances and high awareness in facing the challenges currently faced by the region, noting that the media should shoulder its responsibilities in enlightening Arab public opinion.
Meanwhile, Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa welcomed in presence of Information Minister Samira Rajab, the directors of Arab news agencies, partaking in the conference of the Federation of Arab News Agencies.
During the meeting, the Crown Prince underlined the role of media which unveils the truth of local, regional, and international policies, highlighting the importance that the agencies reinforce unity among the region's peoples in the face of the many challenges.
This conference broaches key issues aiming to improve the news agencies and media in order to follow up on the current changes. (end) mga.ss
