BRUSSELS, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti delegation will be participating in the 19th session of the Conference of the States Parties of the Organisation for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which will be held from December 1 to 5 in the Dutch city of The Hague.
The charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Kuwait in the Netherlands Counselor Ali Al-Thaydi told Kuwait news agency (KUNA) Wednesday that the delegation will also participate in the meetings of the national committees preceding the conference.
He noted that the conference will discuss many documents related with the annual report of the OPCW, the election of members of the Executive Council between the Member States, enhance international cooperation to harness the chemical activities for peaceful purposes, and to achieve a global agreement as well as the organisation's budget for 2015.
Al-Thaydi stressed Kuwait's support for all activities of the organisation, and the importance of implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention on the basis of full faith in the disarmament of all weapons of mass destruction.
He also reiterated Kuwait's commitment to the Convention, particularly with regard to supporting all efforts to make the Middle East free of these deadly weapons.
"The State of Kuwait is working to support everything that would achieve international cooperation to accomplish the objectives of the Convention," he said.
He added that the Kuwaiti delegation will include a number of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the National Committee to monitor and secure communications with the OPCW. (end) nk.hb
