Jordan summons Israeli Amb. over mocking parliament

AMMAN, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs on Tuesday summoned the Israeli Ambassador in Amman Daniel Nevo to protest against remarks he made to the media about the Jordanian parliament.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Ashraf Khasawneh, said that the Israeli ambassador was alerted and told that the content and the manner in which he gave his statements are rejected, and that those statements are unacceptable and unjustifiable.
Khasawneh described Nevo's remarks as a blatant violation of diplomatic norms and principles of diplomatic behavior between states and governments.
He stressed that the ambassador must respect all institutions in the country, commit to diplomatic norms.
The spokesperson emphasized the importance and status of the legislative role of the Lower House of Representatives as it is a pillar of the Jordanian state and an elected authority, which represents the Jordanian society. (end) ab.ibi
