Yemeni FM appreciates GCC supportive stance

DOHA, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Saidi applauded Tuesday the Gulf Cooperation Council's unwavering support to Yemen's unity and stability.
Speaking at A joint meeting for foreign ministers of Yemen and GCC states, Al-Saidi expressed appreciation of the GCC's role in reaching an agreement to help Yemen avoid a civil war.
He added that the GCC states' political, security and economic backing to Yemeni shows the GCC's keenness on maintaining the political order in Yemen.
He regretted the exaggerated media reporting about events in Yemen.
Al-Saidi said that Yemen has made great strides in national dialogue with the participation of all political powers to build a federal State and maintain security and stability of the country.
He explained that the recent developments in Yemen are the result of past tension and attempts to drag the country into war with parties that aim to destabilize Yemen.
Al-Saidi underlined that the government has dealt with wisely with these malicious schemes to spare those targeting Yemen's stability the opportunity.
He hailed the role of the recently signed partnership and peace agreement with several Yemeni parties to restore security, peace and stability.
For his part, Qatari Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Attiyah underlined the GCC states support to the security and stability of Yemen and their concern at the unfortunate and extremely serious events there which might return Yemen to the cycle of violence and chaos.
He appealed to all Yemenis to reject sectarianism and put the interests of the Yemeni people above all considerations.
Al-Attiyah welcomed the formation of the new Yemeni Government, describing it as a positive and important step towards achieving the people's aspirations of security and stability, progress and prosperity. (end) nnd.ibi
