DOHA, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- The next GCC summit will witness new vistas of cooperation particularly on the political and economic levels, said Abdullah Bishara, consultant to GCC Supreme Council on Tuesday.
The Supreme Council is to submit a number of its ideas and aspirations to the GCC ministerial council for its consideration when it meets in Doha today, said Bishara, in remarks he made to KUNA.
He added that the march of the GCC was satisfactory though slow but could be energized without any tampering with its basic charter.
Any energizing should be "complete and comprehensive" and amenable to the Supreme Council and should be based primarily on economic considerations. He said he favored the idea of allowing GCC citizens the freedom to work in any GCC country in any profession except those having to do with the military and security.
He further said that the Supreme Council should rethink some of its resolutions and decisions to be based on premises congruent with contemporary changes in human rights and the role of women in society and the importance of attending to the needs of the youth.
Bishara had presided over a consultative meeting yesterday to look over studies the Higher Council had ordered and to discuss the possibility of issuing a unified GCC tourist visa and to overall assess the well-being of the GCC construct. (end) nnd.ajs
