KUWAIT, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- Setback of sports in Kuwait has featured high on the agenda of the Cabinet weekly meeting at Seif Palace on Monday, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Todays' debate on the imbalances and obstacles of sports comes in the aftermath of the failure by the national football team in the 22nd edition of the Gulf Cup of Nations currently held in Riyadh, said Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah after the meeting.
The Cabinet noted that the failure at the 22nd Gulf Cup has been the result of accumulating faults and imbalances that led to negative results, laying the blame on the Kuwait Football Association and its general assembly, the Minister added.
The meeting urged the relevant bodies to assume responsibilities and take effective measures to remedy the faults so as to avert more harm to Kuwait's sports reputation, Sheikh Mohammad said.
It also urged developing practical methods likely to promote sports institutions and guarantee their commitment to the "right path", to realize the aspired achievements.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet was today informed of the message from Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inviting him to attend the 35th meeting of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Doha, December 9-10.
The delegation to accompany His Highness the Amir to the GCC Supreme Council meeting will include First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister of Finance Anas Khaled Al-Saleh and Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Ali Saleh Al-Omair.
The Cabinet was then briefed by the Prime Minister on the outcome of the recent visit to Kuwait by Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama and an accompanying delegation. The visit focused on means of cementing bilateral ties in all fields, Minister Sheikh Mohammad said.
The ministers were also apprised of a recent letter sent to His Highness the Prime Minister from his counterpart in Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, inviting him to visit Tajikistan to promote and consolidate friendly reltions between both countries in all fields.
Then the Cabinet discussed the topics on the agenda of the National Assembly.
The meeting concluded with a review of reports on the current political developments on the Arab and international scenes. (end) am.msa
