Biden speaks with Cypriot Pres.

WASHINGTON, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Vice President Joe Biden spoke Sunday with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and updated him on his recent conversations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
Biden also noted the "need to deescalate tensions in order to get back to a more constructive track in UN-mediated settlement talks on Cyprus and reinvigorate efforts to seek mutually beneficial solutions," according to a statement from the Office of the Vice President.
Both leaders underscored their commitment to reunifying the island as a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation. (end) ak.bs
