GENEVA, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- The International Organizaiton for Migration (IOM) is finalizing preparations for an award ceremony to honor His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on occasion of UN honoring him as "Humanitarian Leader," Kuwait's Ambassador to UN said.
Jamal Al-Ghunaim, also Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Geneva, said Sunday the honoring ceremony would be held at the UN Palace during the opening of the IOM's 105th session.
Al-Ghunaim was speaking to KUNA following the arrival of Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq, Amiri Diwan Advisor, head of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) and UN Secretary General's Humanitarian Envoy.
Al-Maatouq will be receiving the IOM award on behalf of His Highness the Amir.
Al-Ghunaim said Al-Maatouq would be holding meetings with officials of the international organizations in Geneva.
He said the IOM's honoring was in appreciation of His Highness the Amir's humanitarian role to alleviating the suffering of people in need around the world. (end) ta.bs
