MADRID, Nov 22 (KUNA) -- Lionel Messi broke by two goals the Liga goalscoring all-time record as Barcelona FC cruised to a 5-1 home win over of Sevilla, and reduced the gap with top-placed rivals Real Madrid to two points.
Messi scored an emphatic hattrick to the delight of cheering fans and teammates at Camp Nou, opening the account for his side with a free kick in the 21st minute.
Only moments after the start of the second half, Sevilla levelled as defender Jordi Alba scored an own goal. But the visitors' luck did not last long as Neymar pounced on a Xavi free kick, only two minutes later, nodding in his 13th goal in 15 games so far in the campaign.
Ivan Rakitic added a third for his side after heading in a Luis Suarez cross, before Messi added two more to break the all-time record set by Basque striker Telmo Zarra in 1955 by two goals.
Barcelona are now two points adrift of Real Madrid, and two points above Atletico Madrid. (pickup previous) hnd.sd
