MWL urges cooperation between Muslim world, Europe against extremism, terrorism

BRUSSELS, Nov 22 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Dr. Abdallah ibn Abdul Mohsen At-Turki, Saturday called on the Muslim youth in Europe not to fall prey to deviant teachings, to avoid extremism and to adhere to the true teaching of peace and tolerance of Islam.
Addressing a seminar on Islam at the Islamic Cultural Centre in Brussels, Al-Turki referred to the ongoing crises Syria, Iraq, Yemen and other parts of the world and stressed that Islam is innocent and free from extremist and terrorist groups.
He urged the Muslim youth, in particular in European countries to avoid these groups and not to participate in them because its damages the image of Muslims and Islam.
Al-Turki said there should be more cooperation on how the Muslim communities living in Europe integrate into their societies and preserve their faith and identity and he urged them to avoid sectarianism and differences and not to import problems of their origin countries to their host countries.
"This is the most important topic that we have to cooperate," he stressed and said that extremism, terrorism, human rights are issues of common concerns for all mankind, Muslim or non Muslims.
He hoped that this seminar would be a start for common action between us and the authorities in European and other countries on fight against violence, extremism, said the Leading Saudi cleric and called on the Muslim communities to promote the true teachings of Islam.
He noted that the MWL has organised several seminars and conferences around the world to promote dialogue and peaceful coexistence between Muslims and non-Muslims.
"The message of Islam is a message of peace," he underlined.
He thanked the Islamic Centre of Brussels and Belgian authorities for their cooperation in organising the one-day seminar which is discussing topics like "Islam and rejection of violence, Islam and peaceful coexistence." He also praised the continuous efforts of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, to promote dialogue for global peace and security.
The MWL is an international Islamic organisation based in the Holy City of Makkah. It is engaged in propagating the religion of Islam, elucidating its principles and tenets, refuting suspicious and false allegations made against the religion. (end) nk.mt
