Pakistan lodges protest over ceasefire violation by India

ISLAMABAD, Nov 21 (KUNA) -- The Government of Pakistan on Friday has lodged protest with the Government of India through diplomatic channels over the unprovoked firing and mortar shelling by the Indian forces in Pandu Sector across the Line of Control LoC, killing a Pakistani soldier, said Foreign Office.
A statement by Pakistan Foreign Office said that the Government of Pakistan offers its condolences to the bereaved family of Sepoy Zahid of Pakistan Army who was martyred due to multiple mortar splinter injuries.
"A senior Indian diplomat from the Indian High Commission in the federal capital was summoned at South Asian desk of the foreign ministry and was conveyed Pakistan's serious concerns over the issue," said the statement.
Condemning the incident, Pakistan called upon India to restrain its security forces from unprovoked firing and shelling across the LoC and the Working Boundary, Foreign Office added.
Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing on Thursday at the LoC in Pandu sector near Muzaffarabad city of Pakistan side of Kashmir and Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian firing, said military.
The Himalayan territory of Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan by the UN-monitored de facto border of LoC.
Earlier last month, the cross border firing at LoC and the Working Boundary killed at least 14 civilians and wounded 50 others. (end) sbk.hs
