Chairman of the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah
BANGKOK, Thailand, Nov 8 (KUNA) -- Chairman of the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah ended here on Saturday ANOC's 19th General Assembly meeting.
Following the meeting Sheikh Ahmad told KUNA that important resolutions have come out of it in the best interest of the Olympic movement and youth sports worldwide.
He said the meeting affirmed the close-knitted cooperation among all of ANOC's 203 committees, manifested by the unanimous resolutions taken during the meeting.
He noted that there was agreement on all seven amendments made to the charter of ANOC and on holding beach sports events and on continuing award-giving ceremonies.
He thanked all national Olympic committees taking part in the meeting and their keenness to further enhance the work of ANOC.
ANOC's General Assembly meeting started yesterday with the election of Sheikh Ahmad as chairman for four years and of the Irishman Patrick Hickey, President of the European Olympic Committees, as First Deputy Chairman. (end)
