SOHR: around 5,722 killed in clashes in Syria last month

AMMAN, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said Saturday that it has documented the killings of around 5,772 people in Syria during clashes between regime forces and the opposition last month.
Among those killed were 1,064 civilians, of them 251 under the age of 18 years old, including 112 women, and 1,552 opposition fighters and Syrian-Kurds, 876 from regime forces, and 28 from Hezbollah, while the rest are rebels from popular committee and national Defence forces, SOHR said in a statement.
The monitoring group estimated that the actual number of those killed from Islamist groups, and ISIL, including Al-Nusra Front and other Arab and Asian nationals has reached 1,500 since last month.
Meanwhile, the Syrian opposition said in a separate statement that it has documented the death of 43 young people due to torture in the Syrian regime prisons from the towns and villages of southeast Homs.
Meanwhile, on another front, the General Authority for Palestinian refugees in Syria and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), continued the distribution of relief aid to Palestinian refugees in Yarmuk refugee camp near Damascus. (end) tk.mb
