Paris meeting affirms full support to UN mediation in Libya

PARIS, Oct 31 (KUNA) -- Special Envoys to Libya reasserted their full support Friday to mediation spearheaded by UN Special Envoy to Libya Bernardino Leon for the sake of continuing dialogue and reach a political solution and end to violence in the North African country.
The remarks were made during a meeting by the special envoys representing Germany, Spain, US, France, Italy, Arab League, Malta, Britain, Turkey, African Union (AU), and European Union (EU) with Leon.
Participants in the meeting expressed their support to also continue dialogue and support the legitimate House of Representatives and engaging all its members to form a comprehensive government, with the withdraw of militias from cities, airports, and all Libyan territories, the French foreign ministry said in a statement.
Participants also renewed refusal for a military solution to the Libyan crisis, and condemned all forms of violence, praising all Libyan military commanders who were committed to dialogue.
The envoys called for immediate ceasefire on all Libyan territories and allow the immediate resumption of humanitarian aid operations.
Participants in Paris also expressed their deep concern over the terrorist threat spreading under the current political situation in Libya, noting that only a strong and united Libya would overcome it. (end) amm.mb
