Jordan int'l calls pressurize Israel to reopen Haram Al-Sharif to Muslims

AMMAN, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- Muslims will be allowed once again to pray at Haram Al-Sharif in Jerusalem as of Friday, said Jordan, after Israel had decided to close the doors of the holy site to Muslims earlier on Thursday.
The revelation was made in comments by State Minister for Media Affairs and official government spokesman Mohammad Al-Moumani to state news agency, PETRA, who said that it was thanks to Jordanian government appeals to the international community.
King Abdullah II of Jordan's directions for his government to make immediate calls on the international community for Israel not to impinge Al-Aqsa Mosque and to refrain from any unilateral action have resulted in the reopening of Al-Aqsa Mosque to worshippers, he said.
All options were open to Jordan to take necessary action in order to prevent Israel's continued attacks on Islamic holy shrines in Jerusalem through lobbying international efforts and resorting to the Security Council, he added.
Israel had earlier closed the shrine, known as Temple Mount to Christians - considered holy to Muslims, Jews and Christians alike -to Muslims for the first time since 1967. (end) hmf.sd
