SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh stressed the significance of an Arab ministerial development conference held in Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh on Thursday.
Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the conference, Al-Sabeeh, who also doubles as minister of planning and development, said the gathering came to emphasize commitment to the goals outlined during a similar meeting held in Amman in May.
The Arab development goals, which match the post-2015 world development orientations, are to be subject to further discussions and deliberations during an Arab summit due in Tunis in January 2015, she said.
The State of Kuwait, which chairs the Arab summit and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at present, has reviewed the Arab development goals and the outcomes of a relevant GCC team meeting, she said.
"We have stressed the interest of the GCC member states in the role of young people and in empowering them in the management of the State, and we will stress this goal which is very significant," she added.
"We should also emphasize that the world development goals should not run counter to our Islamic Sharia', customs and tradition," he noted.
The minister thanked Egypt for successfully organizing the Arab ministerial development conference. (pickup previous) ms.mt
