ROME, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Italy Ali Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah praised the global status acquired by Rome International Film Festival, currently in its ninth edition, saying that he is looking forward to Kuwait's participation in the event next year.
The extensive global audience of the seventh art stars that has seen participation of cinematic works from 21 countries makes Rome festival a "global cinema celebration," Sheikh Ali Al-Sabah, who attended the opening ceremony of the red carpet for the ninth Rome International Film Festival, told KUNA.
Sheikh Ali underlined the cultural and growing role of the ancient historic city of Rome that characterizes the Film Festival after nine years, showing different types of Italian and foreign, long and short films in addition to documentaries.
This festival is an important occasion for upscale cultural and civic communication, as well as for demonstrating rejection of the culture of violence hatred, the ambassador added.
He also stressed the importance of attendance and diverse participation of Arab cinema in such a global event, praising the keenness of the Italian capital mayor and senior officials on closer cultural ties with the Arab countries, especially Kuwait.
Moreover, he urged Kuwaiti movie makers and others involved in the field to participate in the upcoming sessions of the festival to highlight the great cultural progress in the State of Kuwait. (end) mn.tab.ss
