UNSC condemns terrorist attacks in Sinai

NEW YORK, Oct 25 (KUNA) -- UN Security Council (UNSC) condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, that resulted in the killing and injuring dozens of Egyptian soldiers.
UNSC extended in a statement issued Friday evening, their condolences to the families of the victims and their sympathy to all those injured in these heinous attacks, as well as to the people and the Government of Egypt.
The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are "criminal and unjustifiable" regardless of their motivation, wherever and whenever and by whomsoever committed.
The Council reiterated their determination to combat all forms of terrorism, in accordance with its responsibilities under the Charter of the UN, and underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of this terrorist attack to justice.
The statement then urged all States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with all relevant governments in this regard.(end) mao.gta
