US "expresses its condolences" to family of nat'l killed by Israeli forces

WASHINGTON, Oct 24 (KUNA) -- The US "expresses its deepest condolences to the family of a US citizen minor who was killed by a live bullet by the Israeli Defense forces during clashes in Silwad Friday, said State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki.
Psaki added "we call for a speedy and transparent investigations" for this incident that is the second where a minor US citizen is killed in the clashes this week only.
He stated that officials from the US consulate General in Jerusalem are in contact with the family and are providing all appropriate consular assistance and that they will remain closely engaged with the local authorities who have the lead in this investigation.
"We continue to urge all parties to help restore calm and avoid escalating tensions in the wake of the tragic recent incidents in Jerusalem and the west bank" Psaki stated.
Palestinian authorities identified the 17 year old boy as Orwa Hammad whom was shot during a protest against Israeli troops at Silwad near Ofra settlement. (end) yt.gta
