Info Ministry backs launch of new parliament TV - minister

KUWAIT, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah on Thursday mentioned support provided by the ministry in efforts to launch the parliament TV channel, Al-Majlis, expected to go on air as of Monday.
The minister made these remarks to KUNA, Kuwait TV and Al-Majlis while making a joint visit with National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim to the new channel's HQ.
Sheikh Salman, who is also the president of the National Council for Arts, Literature and Letters, said that the ministry did its best to provide an adequate space for the channel, adding that he had been informed that its departments and studios are well-equipped.
The minister hoped that the new channel could convey its intended message, on working to strengthen national unity as well as focusing on development efforts made by the state.
This move, he noted, is made upon the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah.
He stressed that the government, led by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, cooperates with the legislative authority to achieve development inside the country.
The minister expressed gratitude to his staff for their effort and contributions in launching the channel.
Al-Majlis TV, which is located inside the Ministry of Information HQ in Shuwaikh, plans to begin transmission on the eve of the opening of the third session of the 14th legislative term on Monday. (pickup previous) mah.hm
