WASHINGTON, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RFMP) indicated during a press conference Wednesday that the shooting in Ottawa is "fluid and remains ongoing." Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau was able to confirm that the soldier who was shot near the war memorial had passed away and a male suspect was also shot and killed.
The RFMP noted in a statement that, "Contrary to earlier reports no incident occurred near the Rideau Centre [shopping mall]." A statement from the White House added that US President Barack Obama spoke over the phone with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to, "express the American people's solidarity with Canada in the wake of attacks on Canadian Forces in Quebec on October 20 and in Ottawa on October 22."
