FM, DAB+ transmitter at Subiya inaugurated

KUWAIT, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Information on Tuesday inaugurated the new FM and Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB)+ transmitter at the Subiya Broadcast station.
The Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Media Services Mohammad Al-Awash opened the project on behalf of Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah.
Total costs of the project hit KD 2.3 million, Al-Awash said, noting that the opening comes days after inauguration of a radio station South Sabahiya neighborhood, 32km south of Kuwait city, which "highlights the Ministry's efforts to enhance audio broadcasting.".
He added that these new projects aim in the first place to foster Kuwaiti media, both audio and video.
In this regard, there is a host of projects the Ministry is working on, among them the automation of the Kuwait TV archive, being carried out in cooperation with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences.
These projects are the result of the quantum shift the Information Ministry has witnessed recently, especially the engineering sector. (end) mdm.tb.msa
