KUWAIT, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Tuesday chaired the first meeting of the National Security Council, with its new line-up, to discuss the regional and international developments and its impact on Kuwait's security and stability.
The meeting was held at Bayan Palace with the presence of Deputy Commander of National Guard Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Also attended the meeting were First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah; Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister, and Acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah; Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah; Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah; Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Justice Sheikh Mohmmad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah; Finance Minister Anas Al-Saleh; Minister of Communications and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Essa Al-Kandari; Head of His Highness the Crown Prince Diwan Sheikh Mubarak Al-Faisal Al-Saud Al-Sabah; and National Security Apparatus Chief Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

At the advent of the meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince underscored that the region is undergoing a critical stage that requires vigorous and organized action, national unity, and strong the domestic front to overcome the dangers threatening the state security and safety.
His Highness the Crown Prince conveyed to the National Security Council, the highest security body in the state, instructions from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to take all required measures to counter the threats facing the state security, safety and stability.
"We have to clearly understand the seriousness of this critical stage, its developments and repercussions to be able to address it with required steps and measures to protect us from its evils, destructive fallouts and grave consequences on our present and future," His Highness Sheikh Nawaf said.
"The rapid developments in the region and its dangerous aftermaths oblige us to be aware about the danger of this critical stage, to be vigilant and to take precautions against its repercussions and impacts," he said.
"As we feel deeply sorry for the tragic reality of our brothers in these (conflict-ravaged) countries, we also feel the huge dangers and challenges threatening security and stability of our homeland." His Highness Sheikh Nawaf hailed the great role played by Army, Police, National Guard personnel in preserving homeland sovereignty and security.
"We greatly applaud the outstanding role and sincere efforts of our brave Army, Police, National Guard to maintain the state sovereignty and security. But, the current stage necessitates more efforts and better organization," His Highness the Crown Prince stressed.
"It also requires from all government and non-government organizations and individuals to shoulder their national responsibility to raise positive awareness and enhance national unity." He warned that the tragic reality and the rapid changes in the region indicate that the dangers and threats are growing and that "there is no time or space for leniency." It rather "obliges vigorous and organized action, embodiment of our national unity, strengthening of our domestic front in face of the real dangers threatening the state security and safety," he said.
His Highness the Crown Prince cautioned against the recently-emerged deviant behaviors and "imported" wrong ideas that contradict the true Islamic teachings and Kuwaiti traditions.
"This places more burdens on the back of religious, educational, media and other institutions to address these dangerous deviations and to protect our children from its evils," he said.
He also underscored that the concept of national security "can not be separated from the rule of law and the firm enforcement of it on everyone without any exception." His Highness the Crown Prince urged the National Security Council to do all in power and to take necessary measures to ensure the state security. He expressed confidence in the Council members' eagerness and ability to undertake this great responsibility and to succeed in their mission. (end) ibi
