RAMALLAH, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- Saeb Erekat, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), urged the US Administration on Friday to reconsider its refusal of Palestinian-Arab proposed UN draft resolution to end Israeli occupation.
Erekat said in a meeting with European Union representative in the Palestinian territories John Rater that the Israeli government continues to reject the peace process and the two-state solution.
The UN Security Council is the gate of international legitimacy and should not be closed in face of Palestinians, he said.
He added that the Israeli government aims to terminate any possibility for implementing the two-state solution through the continuous settlement activities to create new demographic reality, repeated attacks on Palestinian population, siege and closure of Palestinian cities.
Erekat praised Sweden's decision to recognize the state of Palestine, calling on EU states that have not recognized the State of Palestine to do so. (end) ng.hs
