Turkish police confiscate large explosives in Gaziantep

ANKARA, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- The Turkish police announced Monday confiscation of 150 kg of explosives, 20 explosive belts made for suicide attacks, and a number of weapons and ammunition in Gaziantep, southeast Turkey.
The seized explosives were enough to destroy a medium-sized city, Police Chief Ali Gezer told local media, confirming that the alert level has been upgraded to red in several cities and towns, including Istanbul and Ankara.
Gezer also added that Turkish police was currently suspecting that the confiscated explosives and ammunition belong to the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). (end) rs.ma
