Explosions rock northern Syria in coalition attacks

AMMAN, Oct 2 (KUNA) -- About 20 explosions rocked the outskirts of Menbej and Tishrin Dam in Aleppo northern Syria on Thursday, resulting from air raids executed by the international-Arab coalition, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
Meanwhile, ground clashes have been raging for 36 hours in different parts of Ain Al-Arab town, the Observatory said, adding that Islamic opposition factions are fighting against the Syrian Army forces in western and other parts of Aleppo where a citizen was killed and about nine others were injured.
Ain Al-Arab, a key town located close to the Syrian-Turkish border, is currently target of a multi-pronged assault waged by the hardline Islamists. Defending the town are a cocktail of Kurdish irregulars.
The opposition and government forces clashed on the northern outskirts of Hama, killing one Syrian soldier, while there were also reports of about five dead and injured in an ambush targeting the regulars. (pickup previous) tk.ag
