Coalition warplanes bomb ISIL positions in Syria

AMMAN, Oct 2 (KUNA) -- Aircraft of the international-Arab coalition have attacked extremists' positions in Ain Issa north of Riqqa, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Thursday.
There were no reports about losses as a result of the latest air strikes.
Earlier, the coalition warplanes carried out a series of sorties on locations controlled by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant on outskirts of Menbej in Aleppo, inflicting a number of casualties.
The Observatory denied reports that the ISIL militants burst into Ain Al-Arab town in the north, located close to the Syrian-Turkish border, adding that fierce fighting was ongoing between the militants and Kurdish militias defending the town.
ISIL forces are targeting the town with heavy-caliber artillery, tanks and 220-mm mortars, the Observatory said, adding that the Kurdish forces positioned in the town were preparing to engage the extremists in street battles in case they invaded the town.
In Homs, the Observatory said 45 people including 41 children died in a booby-trapped car blast that happened close to a school Ikremah district, on Wednesday. Three security personnel died in another explosion that happened shortly later -- carried out by a suicide bomber.
Casualty toll of these two blasts may be updated because many of the wounded are suffering from serious cuts, the Observatory said, indicating that a number of persons are missing or believed to have been buried beneath heaps of rubble left by the fiery blasts.
The Observatory also reported fierce fighting between the regime troops and opposition forces at various axes on Damascus' outskirts. (end) tk.rk
