Targeting Jordan's security require firm response - King Abdullah II

AMMAN, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan said Wednesday that his country's participation in the international anti-terror coalition was not an easy decision, asserting at the same time that repeated attempts of targeting the Kingdom's borders and security require a firm response.
"Jordan's security and national interests are above any other considerations. We will not allow anyone to tamper with the security of the citizens and homeland," King Abdullah II said during a meeting with members of the National Union Party parliamentary bloc, according to Jordan News Agency (PETRA).
King Abdullah II also expressed his confidence in the Jordanian people in confronting extremism and terrorism that target the region's security and stability, voicing his pride in the Jordanian army and security bureaus. "They are always ready to ward off challenges and deal with all circumstances." He also stressed importance of strengthening his country's internal capacities against terrorism through applying a comprehensive strategy in intellectual and educational fields.
The Jordanian monarch also noted that terrorism does not know any religion or boundaries and those responsible for it are a threat to Muslims more than others, adding that "what we do is a battle for the victory of real and moderate Islam against the extremists who have hijacked our tolerant religion".
