Kuwaiti skeet shooter elated over his gold medal win at ASIAD

INCHEON, South Korea, Sept 30 (KUNA) -- Winning the gold medal in the skeet shooting competition for single shooters at Incheon's 17th ASIAD, Kuwaiti gold medalist Abdullah Al-Rashidi told KUNA on Tuesday that his toughest competition came from Chinese shooters.
He noted that the Kuwaiti single and team competitors experienced setbacks in the preliminary rounds yesterday due mostly to bad weather conditions on the competition field. However, he said, these conditions improved noticeably today resulting in impressive showings by the Kuwaiti athletes.
He said the chinese shooters posed stiff competition to their Kuwaiti countreparts right up until the penultimate round when Al-Rashidi himself tied with his Chinese competitor with a score of 15 hits each. Fortunately for Al-Rashidi the last and final round saw him scoring 16 hits to the Chinese competitor's 12, launching the Kuwaiti to getting the gold medal in the event.
Al-Rashidi thanked the Kuwaiti government and sports officials on fostering the Kuwaiti youth to excel in international sports competitions. (pickup previous) fsh.ajs
