KUWAIT, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- The cabinet has decided to revoke the citizenship of 18 nationals in line with Article 13 and Article 21 of the Nationality Law.
The decree was announced by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Justice Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah following a weekly cabinet meeting held at Bayan Palace on Monday under chairmanship of Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The cabinet has also approved a draft decree granting citizenship to Nasser Al-Hussein as per Article Five of the Nationality Law, he added.
The decrees were taken upon recommendations submitted by a high-level naturalization committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, he said.
Meanwhile, the cabinet approved a draft decree authorizing an international science and technology university in Kuwait and another draft decree okaying a memo of understanding between Kuwait and Iran on bilateral tourist cooperation, the cabinet minister noted.
On Kuwaiti efforts to protect intellectual property, the ministers listened to a presentation from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdulmohsen Al-Madaj on achievements and pieces of legislation made in this regard.
At the onset of the meeting, the cabinet congratulated His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, the Kuwaiti people and both Arab and Muslim nations on Eid Al-Adha which falls on Saturday.
The ministers then reviewed two letters sent to His Highness the Amir from the presidents of Angola and Honduras on ways and means of promoting and developing bilateral relations.
They then discussed the outcomes of a recent official tour by First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine and France; mainly involving an all-out strategy to fight the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and other terrorist groups, as well as efforts for holding an international conference on Gaza reconstruction.
Sheikh Sabah Khaled also apprised the ministers of the outcomes of his participation in a recent international conference for Iraq's peace and security held in Paris, the cabinet minister pointed out.
The cabinet finally discussed several political reports on the current Arab and international developments. (end)
