Kuwait donates USD 268,000 for construction of mosque in Vals

VIENNA, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- Embassy of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Austria has handed a donation of 77,000 Kuwaiti dinars (equivalent to USD 268,000) to the Islamic Society in the city (Valz) located in Upper Austria for establishing a mosque for the Muslim community there.
Kuwait's Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna Sadeq Marafie said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) today that this donation stems from the significant role of the State of Kuwait in spreading the real image of Islam, facing religious extremism and its commitment to support Islamic charitable projects in various countries around the world.
He added that the donation also comes in response to the needs of the Muslim community living in the city Valz to perform religious rites due to the lack of such facilities in this city.
Meanwhile, head of the Islamic Union in Austria, Dr. Mehmet Tarhan had earlier praised the tireless efforts undertaken by the State of Kuwait to support projects in various parts of the Islamic world, stressing that these efforts receive the respect and appreciation of Muslims.
Tarhan said in an interview with KUNA during the annual campaign to publicize the virtues of the Holy Prophet that Kuwait has always been proactive in supporting the Islamic action, noting that such philanthropic works were no strange to the State of Kuwait which has always stressed the true principles of Islam based on moderation, tolerance, cooperation and communication with each other to achieve peaceful coexistence and a decent life.
