Kuwait-Iran cmte to meet in Tehran on regional security risks

KUWAIT, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti-Iranian Joint Political committee will be meeting in Tehran on Monday to discuss regional security risks, a statement by the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said Saturday.
The meeting, to be co-chaired by the Ministry's Undersecretary Khaled Suleiman Al-Jarrallah and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for the Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, will take place against the backdrop of serious threats facing the Gulf region.
The committee is affiliated to the Joint Higher Committee; its meeting gains additional significance as it will coincide with regional turmoil and follow up the outcome of the visit by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Tehran in early June.
Al-Jarrallah will leave here for Tehran tomorrow afternoon, leading the Kuwaiti delegation made up of chief of staff of the office of Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry Ayham Abdullatif Al-Omar, director of the Ministry's legal affairs dept. Ghanim Saqr Al-Ghanim and deputy director of the Asia dept. Mosa'ed Al-Thuwaikh as well as other officials of the Ministry.
Kuwait Ambassador to Iran Majdy Al-Thafeiri will join the delegation. (end) maa.gb
