Arab League hosts ceremony to celebrate UN honoring of His Highness the Amir

KUWAIT, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- The Arab Media Forum will organize a ceremony at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo on 3 November to celebrate the recent UN honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a 'Humanitarian Leader' and Kuwait as a 'Humanitarian Center.' The ceremony will appreciate Kuwait's role in all fields, especially on the humanitarian level, sparing no effort to support the humanitarian issues, the Forum said in a statement on Saturday.
It added that the celebration would be held in cooperation with the Arab League's Secretariat, the Kuwait Permanent Delegation to the League and the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information.
According to the statement, the ceremony is also to honor the role by the State of Kuwait for its continuous support to the Arab issues.
The event will include a special exhibition on the biography of His Highness the Amir, an illustrated publication and a documentary, with special focus on his efforts backing the Arab causes, Arab Media Forum Secretary General Madhi Al-Khamis told KUNA.
Numerous dignitaries, officials and media figures will attend the untraditional ceremony embraced by the Arab League to deliver a message of gratitude to His Highness the Amir for his humanitarian support to the Arab nation over long years, Al-Khamis added.
He appreciates the immediate approval of the Arab League's Secretariat and Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby to host the ceremony.
The Arab Media Forum was launched in 2003 and enjoyed support by His Highness the Amir, who was then First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Al-Khamis said.
The celebration comes in recognition by the Forum and the Arab media institutions of His Highness the Amir's support to the media scene, he concluded. (end) mdm.tb.msa
