US airstrikes in Iraq destroy ISIL resupply boat, small ground unit

WASHINGTON, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- US military forces continued to attack Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists in Iraq, using fighter aircraft to conduct two airstrikes on Thursday and Friday, the US Central Command announced in Tampa, Florida.
One airstrike southeast of Baghdad destroyed a boat on the Euphrates River conducting resupply of ISIL forces, according to a USCENTCOM statement. The second strike occurred southwest of Baghdad and struck a small ISIL ground unit, it said, noting that all aircraft exited the strike areas safely.
As part of President Barack Obama's comprehensive strategy to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL, the USCENTCOM has conducted a total of 178 airstrikes across Iraq, it added. (end) rm.gb
