KUWAIT, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- Armenian Minister of Diaspora Affairs Hranush Hakobyan on Friday thanked the State of Kuwait for helping her country during the Syrian crisis.
The Armenian minister made the remark during a meeting with a Kuwaiti parliament delegation, appreciating the Kuwaiti MPs' current visit to Armenia, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Armenia said in a release sent to KUNA.
She appreciated the role of Kuwait in providing material assistance needed by refugees and opening a school for them in Armenia, it added.
The minister also voiced satisfaction with good care and treatment received by Armenian nationals living in Kuwait, mainly educational and religious services, according to the release.
The Armenian minister, in the meantime, congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on naming His Highness the Amir a "Humanitarian Leader" and choosing Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center" by the United Nations in New York on September 9.
For his part, the head of the visiting Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation, Faisal Al-Shaia' hailed the Armenian community in Kuwait and even welcomed the minister's request to increase the number of Armenian workers in this Gulf nation.
He called for opening a direct flight route between Kuwait and Armenia in order to facilitate the transport of Armenians and Kuwaitis wishing to visit Armenia. (end) asm.mt
