DUBAI, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- Head of the Kuwaiti and Arab Tennis Federation Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah said that Kuwait has received two distinguished honoring through its participation in the meetings of the General Assembly of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), which concluded here late on Thursday.
This came after his participation in the meetings and an honorary ceremony held by the General Assembly of the ITF which was also attended by the Member States, the secretary of the Kuwaiti Tennis Federation Abel Reda Al-Gharib, ITF president Francesco Ricci and the heads of the confederations and the Executive Office of the ITF.
Sheikh Ahmad told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the State of Kuwait received the honoring of the General Assembly of the ITF by agreeing unanimously to increase the number of Kuwait votes in it.
He described the move as evidence of the high status of the game of tennis in the State of Kuwait, both at the level of its participation in the World Cup men's tennis (Davis) or at the level of other international tournaments or at the level of players classification.
He continued by saying he was proud of the honoring given to the Kuwaiti tennis played Mohammad Al-Gharib for his participation in the World Cup Tennis Men's Tennis (Davis) for several years until he became the first player in the world in the number of appearances in the cup.
He stressed that this honor is an achievement for the game of tennis in the State of Kuwait and "we are proud of these achievements and look forward to more of the other achievements for our beloved Kuwait".
On the other hand, Sheikh Ahmad commended efforts of the UAE Tennis Federation in the organization of the meeting of the General Assembly of the ITF describing it as "wonderful and unique". (end) hny.tg
