TUNIS, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- The Secretary General of Arab Interior Ministers Council Dr. Mohammad bin Ali Koman affirmed Wednesday Arab states' determination to counter terrorism.
"Arab states have always proved their firm resolve in combating terrorism," Koman said during the opening session of the 17th conference of the Arab anti-terrorism officials at Council's secretariat HQ here.
He pointed out the security measures that had been implemented by Arab countries since the last conference, particularly the incrimination of any overseas fighting activity, incitement and hatred speeches and illegal Jihad 'fatwas' (religious opinions), and drying out the sources of funding for terrorism.
Koman also valued coordination efforts exerted by anti-terrorism bureaus in Arab countries, noting at the same time that the current conference is being held under troubled Arab and regional circumstances, which have been intensified by radical speeches.
Koman also stressed importance of obtaining regional and international cooperation in order to face terrorism danger alongside efforts exerted by Arab states' security bureaus, expressing at the same time his sorrow toward the absence of a full Arab commitment to combat terrorism. He explained that some Arab States still condone the international decision on paying off ransoms to terrorists.
The conference discusses a number of issues related to boosting Arab efforts in order to counter terrorism, including a revised draft of the Arab strategy for countering terrorism, as well as proactive security measures in combating terrorism.
Kuwait's delegation to the conference is headed by Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Falah and Captain Essa Ahmad from Interior Ministry. (end) nm.ksj.ma
