KUWAIT, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah on Tuesday underlined the importance of Kuwait's participation in the Asian Games or Asiad.
The Asiad, in which about 30,000 male and female athletes will compete, is scheduled to be hosted by the city of Incheon, South Korea, on September 19 and runs until October 4.
"The State of Kuwait is keen on the participation of its nationals, including men and women, in that prominent and largest tournament in the continent," Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud said in a statement before heading to South Korea.
Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud expressed his trust that Kuwaiti athletes contesting the event will make an honorable performance to their dear state, hoping they could make progress and win medals in different competitions.
The minister's accompanying delegation includes Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS) Sheikh Ahmed Al-Mansour Al-Sabah and other ministry's senior officials. (end) ha.tab.hm
