KUWAIT, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- The top leadership, namely His Highness the Prime Minister, has affirmed keenness on providing unlimited support to the national news agency, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, during a meeting with the new KUNA board members, late on Sunday, quoted His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, as affirming his keenness on furnishing KUNA with limitless backing for the sake of developing its tasks.
The KUNA delegation received by the Minister of Information was headed by the Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, included his Deputy, Adnan Al-Rashed, and members Mohammad Al-Awwash, Ambassador Saleh Al-Loughani and Kholoud Alfeeli.
Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud affirmed the aspiration to upgrade work at the news agency and make a qualitative stride forward in the Kuwaiti media sector.
Media today, the Minister stated, has enormous effect at the domestic level for promoting the government ventures and its accomplishments, assuring the KUNA leaders that "all support and facilities are available for whatever serves the tasks in and outside the country" in this sector.
For his part, the KUNA chief expressed gratitude for the substantial support, offered by His Highness the Premier and the Minister of Information for enhancing quality of work at the national news network.
Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij expressed high optimism that with the new team the services would be developed further.
Al-Rashed noted that the team would be in need for the government support to develop the services. "We are confident that the government represented by the Minister of Information will not hesitate to offer support for a major establishment such as KUNA." The news agency, he elaborated, provides up to 50 percent of the news published by the local press. (end) mdm.tb.rk
