5.1 quake jolts Indonesian Sumatra Island region

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- A moderate earthquake with a 5.1 magnitude on the richter scale shook the Indonesian Sumatra Island early Monday without causing high tides nor trigerring a tsunami warning.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said that the earthquake's epicenter is located some 7,811 klm south east of Malaysian state of Sabah.
Last Friday, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale was detected south of the Molucca Sea. It was felt by the residents of of Sulawesi. (end) mam.ha
