KUWAIT, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti cadet and athlete Officer Hamed Saleem Al-Askar won on Friday a silver medal at the Second Military Colleges World tournament, currently held in the city of Salinas in Ecuador with 24 participating countries.
Head of the Kuwaiti delegation to the tournament Fawaz Al-Musaileem told KUNA in a telephone call that Al-Askar, a cadet at Ali Al-Sabah Military College, earned this achievement after coming second in the 400m race, adding that Al-Askar ranks first among Arab countries in the tournament.
Al-Musaileem hailed the continuous support from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Jarrah Al-Sabah to Kuwait military, which has contributed to raising the country's flag in this great event.
He also thanked Kuwait Military Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Mohammad Al-Othman for his support to the team and for all the military commanders in Ali Sabah Military College.
The Kuwaiti delegation includes 14 cadets and trainers. (end) fsa.mb
