Yemeni Pres. accuses regional countries of backing Houthis

SANAA, Sept 1 (KUNA) -- Yemeni President Abdo Rabbu Mansour Hadi Monday accused regional countries, which he did not name, of supporting the Houthi group thus causing chaos in the capital Sanaa "to burn it like burning Damascus and Baghdad." Hadi, during a meeting with families of 14 soldiers who were kidnapped and killed by Al-Qaeda in the eastern Hadhramout province, said 70 percent of Al-Qaeda militants in Yemen were not Yemeni nationals "and have come from Arab and European countries, and from Chechnya and Afghanistan," official media reported.
There are some parties that do not want Yemen to live in peace, he said and noted that 34 oil companies have left the country because of security concerns.
These parties, added Hadi, sought to abort the political process that was based on the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism.
Hadi told the families that an official funeral would be held for the soldiers next Thursday. (end) az.bs
