Cameron calls for European coordination to stop extremism

BRUSSELS, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron Saturday called for an European strategy to combat terrorism and radicalization.
Speaking to reporters ahead of an EU special summit in Brussels, he said "yesterday I set out the terrorist threat that we face in the United Kingdom and the strategy we have to take it head on both at home and overseas." "Today, in Brussels, it's an opportunity to talk with other EU leaders and to make sure we all coordinate to stop people travelling to Iraq and Syria and stop radicalisation, to confront extremism, and that's what we'll be discussing today," he said.
"Obviously as well we have to address the completely unacceptable situation of having Russian troops on Ukrainian soil. Countries in Europe shouldn't need to think long before realising just how unacceptable that is. We know that from our history, so consequences must follow if that situation continues and we will be discussing that as well today," he added. (end) nk.rk
