Pres. Erdogan mandates Davutoglu to form new government

ISTANBUL, Aug 29 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has formally asked acting Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to form new government.
Erdogan assigned acting Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to form the country's 62nd government, where Davutoglu will submit the name-list for his new government to Erdogan on Friday, Anadolu News Agency said.
Davutoglu was elected chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party at an extraordinary congress Thursday and became, de facto, prime minister, the source added.
Erdogan, 60, took the oath afternoon at the Grand National Assembly in Ankara signaling the start of his five-year term in the top post.
He won the first direct presidential election on August 10th by 52 percent. Erdogan served as a prime minister since 2003. (end) ta.ss
