Obama discusses Iraq, ISIL with NSC

WASHINGTON, Augu 29 -- (KUNA) -- President Barack Obama met with his National Security Council (NSC) late Thursday to discuss the situation in Iraq and his ongoing efforts to support the Iraq government and the comprehensive strategy to count the threat posed by ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
The President is expected to continue to consult his team in the days to come, according to a statement from the White House.
Some of the meeting's participants included, Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson. (end) ak.gta
