IRBIL, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- President of Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani unveiled here Monday the conditions of Kurds to participate in the new Iraqi government.
During a meeting with a German delegation headed by MP Volker Kauder, Barzani said that the Kurds are ready for supporting the political process if changes are made in the government policy and mistakes of the past are avoided.
He stressed that Iraqi government should bear its responsibility and provide compensations for citizens who have been displaced due to "terrorist attacks," according to a statement by his office.
The Kurdistan Peshmerga forces managed to manfully stop the advancement of "terrorists" and forced them to retreat after sustaining heavy losses, he pointed out. On his part, Kauder reaffirmed his country's readiness to provide humanitarian aid for refugees and military equipment for Pershmerga to ensure security of Kurdistan.
Meanwhile, US Vice President Joe Biden praised, in a phone call with Barzani, the victory of Pershmerga forces, saying his country supports Pershmerga in combating terrorism, according to a statement by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
The KRG welcomed the decision of UK to appoint a security envoy for the region and provide military aid to Kurdistan and Iraq, the statement added. (end) sbr.hm
