NEW YORK, Aug 20 (KUNA) -- US President Barack Obama plans to hold a Security Council Summit during the UN General Assembly high-level debate on September 24-27 to examine the issue of foreign fighters in Iraq and other parts of the Middle East region.
"The United States briefed on the plans for President Obama to hold a Head of Government level meeting of the Security Council during the Ministerial week of UNGA on the issue of foreign fighters," UNSC President British Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant told reporters on Wednesday following a informal meeting by the Council.
Asked on Gaza, Lyall-Grant said "there are discussions going on between Council members, and there will be discussion of Gaza over the (monthly) lunch with the Secretary-General today. That was one of the topics that we will discuss." (end)  sj.gb
